All serve attempts — successful or unsuccessful — should be recorded directly in the Proof mobile app. These records appear on the affidavit and are visible to clients, so it's important to document each attempt clearly and accurately.

Proof uses a structured Attempt Checklist to guide you through the process. This helps ensure every attempt includes the key details clients and legal teams expect.

📝 How to Add a Serve Attempt

  1. Open the Proof app

  2. Go to the “My Jobs” tab

  3. Select the job you're working on

  4. Tap the “Attempts” tab (middle of the screen)

  5. Tap “Add Attempt”

You’ll be guided through the Attempt Checklist, regardless of whether the attempt was successful or unsuccessful. You can add your serve attempts directly in the Proof mobile app. To do so, select the job from your “My Jobs” tab on the app. Once you are on the jobs screen, navigate to the middle tab labeled “Attempts” and then “Add Attempt”.

You will be able to select the address of the attempt as well as the date and time, add a description of the attempt that will appear on the affidavit, and give a description of the individual served, if applicable. Use as much detail as possible, keeping in mind that all attempt notes will appear on the affidavit.

✅ Step 1: Choose the Address Type

Select the address type where the attempt occurred:

  • Residential

  • Workplace

  • Entity

  • Registered Agent

  • Other → Skips the checklist and allows you to enter a freeform note

📌 Tip: Choose the address type that best matches the location. If nothing fits, “Other” lets you write your own attempt note.

✅ Step 2: Answer a Few Quick Questions

Depending on the address type, you’ll be prompted to answer 3–4 brief questions, such as:

  • Who did you speak with?

  • What did they say? (if applicable)

  • What did you observe at the location?

  • Who else was present?

You can select options like “Nobody,” “Nothing,” or “Other” when needed, and you can always add custom notes.

✍️ Step 3: Review the Auto-Generated Description

Based on your responses, the app will automatically generate a full attempt description.

Before submitting:

  • Review the text for accuracy

  • Edit or add any extra context

  • All details you include here will appear on the affidavit

🧾 Be clear, concise, and professional — especially for unsuccessful attempts, where documentation helps protect the serve.
