Our on-demand surveillance/wait time service allows a process server to remain at a designated location for a specified period, keeping watch for the servee. The process server will attempt to serve the individual if they are detected during this time period.
This service can also be used in situations where a process server may be asked to stay on location if there is a specific time window during which the servee may show up. The minimum surveillance time is two hours, and the rate is up to $75 per hour, depending on the location.
This is an add-on service, which means it is an additional service charge assessed alongside any personal service speeds selected during job creation. It is not a standalone service; the ultimate goal will be to attempt service on the servee.
This service does not include having the process server follow the servee around and document their actions and whereabouts. The process server will remain at the specified address during the service and simply report on the active job what took place during this time period.
How to Request Surveillance/Wait Time:
Please provide a photo of the individual you are looking to have served if you wish to include surveillance/wait time. The process server can use this photo to know who to watch for while on location. You can use this resource to add photos to any job, be it one you're about to submit for service or even an already active job on the platform where you'd like to add this service for an evasive servee.
If submitting a job for service, please use the Additional Notes field to provide any details for the surveillance/wait time request. This can include:
The number of hours you'd like them to wait on location.
Any details of the location, if applicable. This can include details that may help the process server spot the individual.
If there is a specific date that may be necessary for this service.
If there is a specific time in the day when surveillance must begin.
If there is an already active job on the platform, you can request this service in the specific in-job chat with all the above-mentioned details instead of the Additional Notes field.
Common Questions and Scenarios
Q: What if I need this on a specific date or time?
A: For these requests, if a specific date is necessary for this service, the job must be upgraded to a Same-Day service request. That would become a Same-Day service charge and the additional add-on service with a 2-hour minimum. This will ensure that the process server dedicates that day and the time window for this job.
An example could be wanting to have a process server show up at the service address on 3/20/25 to observe the location for three hours because the servee will show up to this address during a work event, and this will be the best chance to serve them as they won't be staying in town after this event.
Q: What is the maximum number of hours I can request for surveillance/wait time?
A: There isn't a specific maximum that can be set; however, understand that for requests for a large number of hours, the process server may take breaks and leave the location. We can break it up into multiple blocks of surveillance if necessary. Please note that for active jobs, if a process server cannot accommodate a specific day or time, we may assign this to a new server.
Q: What if I don't necessarily need the process server to perform surveillance on a specific date? Can I still request it?
A: Yes, in situations where the date does not matter, but instead you want a process server to observe the service location for the evasive servee, you would simply create a job with a Standard, Expedited, or Same-Day service speed and let the assigned Proof specialist know that you just need a set number of hours for surveillance/wait time added and a process server will attempt in the appropriate service speed window. You will still follow the same procedure from the "How to Request Surveillance/Wait Time" section.
