The Proof Camera: Built for How You Work

Written by Julia Leake

TLDR

The in-app camera has been rebuilt from the ground up. Photos now save directly to your phone's camera roll the moment you take them — before upload, before submission, regardless of signal. GPS coordinates and a timestamp are automatically embedded in each photo file. The confirmation prompt between shots is gone, so you can take as many photos as you need back-to-back without interruption.

Faster in the field, stronger documentation, and your photos are safe before you ever leave the address.

What's New

We heard you. Losing a photo because the app didn't save correctly when you had weak signal — and then having to drive back to the address — isn't acceptable. Neither is getting stuck waiting on a confirmation prompt between every single shot in situations where every second counts. And on some older Android devices, you couldn't even access the in-app camera at all.

This update fixes all of it.

Photos now save to your phone's camera roll at the moment of capture — not when the job submits, not when it uploads. GPS coordinates and the timestamp are written directly into the photo file automatically. The confirmation prompt has been removed so you can shoot continuously without stopping between shots.

How to Use It

Nothing about how you document attempts has changed — open the camera the same way you always have. Here's what's different once you're in it:

  1. Tap the shutter. No confirmation required between shots.

  2. Take as many photos as you need. Back-to-back, no delay.

  3. Check your phone's camera roll before you leave. Your photos are already there the moment you take them, — even without signal.

  4. Swipe through your shots by tapping the thumbnail, then submit when you're ready.

💡 Tip: If you lose signal during an attempt, check your phone's camera roll to confirm your photos have saved. Leave the address and submit once you have a signal again.

Your Photo Gallery in the App

The app now includes a gallery in the job details screen. From here you can see which attempt a photo was submitted with, the address, and the metadata that was captured.

Two things to note:

  • The gallery shows photos from successfully submitted attempts — not every photo taken through the app.

  • Every photo you take through the in-app camera saves to your phone's camera roll at the moment of capture, submitted or not.

Access the gallery from the Job Details screen to view all photos associated with previous attempts.

Documentation

Every photo taken through the Proof camera has GPS coordinates and a timestamp embedded directly in the file. When a photo is used as a court exhibit, that metadata is part of the record. It also reduces client follow-up questions about when or where service was attempted.

Still Have Questions?

My photo is missing / didn't save.

Check your phone's camera roll app first — photos save there the instant you take them, no submission required. If it's not there and you're on the latest version of the app, take the photo with your phone and then email us at wecanhelp@proofserve.com or use the support chat in the app.

I'm getting a network error when I try to submit.

Your photos are safe. Check your phone's camera roll app to confirm, leave the address, and submit when you have signal.

The in-app camera isn't opening on my phone.

Some older Android devices may run into issues with the new camera. If it's not opening for you, email us at wecanhelp@proofserve.com or use the support chat in the app — include your phone's make and model and your Android version (for example: Samsung Galaxy A12, Android 12). You can find both under Settings → About Phone.

How do I upload a photo I already took?

You can still upload from your phone's camera roll when you need to. Inside the camera view, tap the upload icon in the top corner.
